When I Tell You That I Love You

When I tell you �I love you�, it actually means that I treasure you as a person. I treasure the things you say to me. I treasure all the things you do for me. It means that I value your existence in my life. It means that I value how rare it is to find someone as amazing as you to share a life with. It means that I have started imagining my present and my future with just you.

When I tell you �I love you�, it means that I have started to trust you with my entire heart and soul. It means that seeing you happy is what makes me happy. It keeps me going. It makes me want to do everything in my power to maintain that happiness for as long as I live. It means that I can never ever imagine hurting you or causing you any kind of pain or suffering.

So when I tell you, �I love you�, please don�t ever take that lightly. Don�t ever think that it�s something I say out of obligation. Don�t ever think that I�m saying it just for the sake of it, without meaning every word of it.

For me, the word �love� holds a lot of weight. It actually means something to me. It means something much more than �I have a crush on you� or �I want to be with you� or �I really like you�. To me, the phrase �I love you� means that I can see my entire universe being pointed in your direction. It means that I completely recognize how I�m the luckiest person in the world to have found you. It means that I can�t imagine saying these three words to anyone but you. And when I�m saying it to you, please just remember that when I tell you �I love you�, it means that I ALWAYS will.

I never love lightly. I never love carelessly. I never love casually. And I never love softly or gently.

When I truly love, I love hard! Some might even think that I love a bit too much. But the thing is I would rather love you hard every day of my life than to take those three words lightly. And I would rather love a bit too much, than to never love anyone at all. 

When I tell you �I love you�, it means that no matter what happens now, no matter how many fights we have or how many hard times we go through, waking up right next to you will always be my idea of the perfect morning. It means that no matter what happens now, sleeping in your arms will always be my idea of a perfect night. It means that I hope to keep waking up to you on each and every morning of my life, and on every transition from summer to fall. When I tell you �I love you�, it means that I have begun to picture what my future would look like with you in it. And it means that I want a future, with just YOU!

So please, when I tell you �I love you�, don�t ever take these three words with a grain of salt. Don�t just shrug at me in reply. Don�t just give me a sly little smile. Don�t act like it doesn�t mean something truly important. Acknowledge the love I�m giving you. Feel it in your heart. Accept it in your mind. And if you feel the same way, then just take my heart with yours forever.

When I tell you �I love you�, I truly mean it!

I�m not just saying to make you happy or to see that beautiful smile on your face. I�m not just saying it to sound romantic or to make you feel butterflies in your stomach. I�m not just saying it to see you turn red. I�m not just saying it because I feel like I�m obligated to, or I feel like there�s some kind of deadline I need to reach.

When I tell you �I love you�, it means that I want to spend hours and hours just talking with you after midnight. It means that I wish to grow old with you and still see you as perfect even when the wrinkles on your face start to show. It means that even if this ends, my love for you will never dim away. My love for you will never end.

So when I tell you those three words, please don�t stop yourself from believing me. And when you feel that you�re completely ready to say it back, then just say it when you really mean it. Just say it when you feel all the things I feel!
